This rivalry has always transcended league standings or form; it’s about local bragging rights and historic pride. It’s a part of Sheffield’s vibrant football culture.
This is something that should be celebrated. Sheffield is the ‘Home of Football’, so let’s showcase the very best of that today.
Obviously, I want nothing more than Sheffield United to triumph this afternoon, but off the pitch, Rainbow Blades & Rainbow Owls support and have respect for what each group delivers for their respective fanbase and the LGBTQ+ community.

Whether it's Michael Brown's stunning volley in 2003 or Mark Bright's Wembley winner in 1993, plenty have written themselves into Steel City folklore. And there might be a new hero today at the first Steel City Derby in over 5 years.
Despite being rivals on the pitch, we've always supported each other off it. Since forming last June, Rainbow Blades' mentorship and joint Regional Alliance membership have been imperative to our success, including registering 175+ members and holding the EFL's first Football v Transphobia matchday.
Two great managers and two great LGBTQ+ supporters' groups, our 132nd encounter should be a classic.
